Data we do not collect

Webster 1844 does not collect, transmit, or sell search queries, looked-up words, names, emails, location, advertising identifiers, or analytics of its own. Apple may collect limited diagnostics if you install through TestFlight or the App Store, under Apple’s policies.

Data stored on your device

The app may store recent lookups on your device (including in an App Group shared with the Share extension). You can clear recents in the app. Uninstalling removes on-device data associated with Webster 1844.

Share extension

When you use Share → Webster 1844, selected text is processed on device to look up a definition. That text is not uploaded by the app.

Third parties

Dictionary text is derived from a CC-licensed dataset credited in the app’s About screen. Using Webster 1844 does not send your lookups to that project or to Morganize LLC.

Children’s privacy

Webster 1844 is a general reference tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
